About Kristen

At Western University, I'm currently in my fourth year studying business at Ivey Business School. Some of my career interests include consulting, product management, and finance.

I've worked a part-time job at Kumon Math and Reading Centre in Toronto since grade 10 of high school. I've had a lot of experience tutoring children of all different ages in both math and reading concepts. Besides working at Kumon, I've also done a lot of work and volunteering related to children and mentoring (ex. SickKids Foundation, LEAP Summer Mentor) as it's an area I'm very passionate about and I love kids!

In my free time, I love listening to and playing music; playing the piano and guitar are some of my favourite hobbie. I also love to explore and go camping, biking, and hiking. Sometimes I'll watch Netflix too (older classics like The Matrix, newer shows like Money Heist, you name it. I also love Disney movies).

About the lesson

If there's a specific way you'd like me to teach you, feel free to let me know and I'd love to do so!

If you don't have a preference, here's how I would like to structure lessons:

Technology: Zoom calls - I'll share my iPad screen and teach you concepts visually so you can easily follow along with explanations and work. You can pull out your own piece of paper to make notes and try some exercises for yourself when I ask you to.

Lesson plan:
1. If I'm teaching you concepts you've never learned before, I'll first teach them to you on my iPad, and then give you my tips and tricks that I believe will help you do the work on your own.
2. Go through example questions
3. Let you try some on your own (while on call)
4. Go through your work process, correct and/or help you polish your understandings of what we'd just gone through.

Who are these lessons good for?
As I'm in second-year university, I'm most comfortable with teaching those who are younger, and my lesson plan is typically more effective for children. However, if you're an adult trying to learn concepts that I am experienced with, that's fine as well!

What sets you apart, Kristen?
I'm a business major, so I'm really personable and love meeting people. I have a bubbly personality, so you won't have to worry about our lessons being dull. I also highly value your satisfaction and success, so if you still don't understand a concept after a while, you won't have to feel guilty or embarrassed.

Additionally, I'm pretty flexible and would love to shape things to your needs. If there is a specific platform or method of learning that best suits you, I'm highly willing to adapt!
