About Holly

I’m an American from Colorado who has lived abroad for the past six years. Since I was 16, I’ve called Brazil, France, Spain, and Belgium home—first as an exchange student, then as an employee, and later as a university student. My love for travel has also taken me to many other countries, embarking on adventures both solo and with friends from around the world. This passion for exploration began in middle school, during my first Spanish class, where I discovered the magic of learning a foreign language and imagined how I could eventually put it to use. That curiosity eventually led me to study languages and literature, both in my native tongue and foreign ones (Spanish and French), at a university in a country that was once unfamiliar to me. Looking back and realizing the power that my very first Spanish class had on my life and its trajectory is mind-blowing. My goal here is to do whatever I can to pass on some of the magic that I've found in learning languages.

About the lesson

My classes are great for students of beginner or intermediate French who are looking to improve their speaking, accent, writing, and/or vocabulary skills. I am also open to teaching French from zero, so even if you're not already a French student, I'd love to be your teacher.

Since each student has their own specific needs and goals, I like to personalize my lesson plans based on those factors. Some students have worksheets or other assignments from their French classes that they need guidance on, while others just need general practice in a specific area. I'm happy to work with my students to find what best fits their needs.

As a long time language-learner, I'm a firm believer that practicing language skills in a safe and fun environment is the best way to improve. I encourage my students to put themselves out there, which means making lots of mistakes - which they will never be judged for. After all, making mistakes is how we learn! Classes are always best when both the teacher and the student(s) feel comfortable having fun, being themselves, and putting their best foot forward.
