About Laura
I think it's so important that students get the chance to fulfil their potential, yet so many are failed by a system that tries to cater to the masses but in practice caters to hardly any.
Many of my students need me for only a few sessions, perhaps with the occasional ad-hoc session to help them grasp a particularly difficult concept. Once we 'hack' your learning style, the rest is easy!

**Since the pandemic, many students have fallen behind. I specialise in languages, but if you or your child are struggling with a different subject, please contact me to see if I can help you catch up.**
I`ve always wondered why schools never actually teach you `how` to learn. They throw the information at you and just expect you to somehow absorb it by osmosis.
There is also very little flexibility to accomodate different learning styles and speeds. Almost everyone learns differently, and a class setting simply cannot cater to every single type. This means they cater to the bulk of the class and the rest are left to sink or swim, and eventually accept that they`re just `not good` at certain subjects.
I`ve seen many friends, peers, and my students develop a hatred for a subject they previously loved simply because they can`t `get it`.
The answer to good grades is to process the information in a way that YOUR brain can process it. Once you process it, you can remember it, and once you remember it, it becomes true knowledge.
It isn`t a case of learning a few memory tricks - but enabling your brain to accept the information in a way that you as an individual understands it.
I can do this for you. I have studied and developed how memory works to the point that I can remember almost anything. This of course gives me a few party tricks - for example if you give me a number between 1-46, I can name the corresponding US President (yes, you can test me at interview!) - but beyond that, once you remember something, you come to understand it, you apply it to other things you know on the subject, and build on the jigsaw and connect the pieces, which then becomes true knowledge.
But the first step, is getting the information actually in your head, and getting it to stay there. If you can`t get that first step, you`re falling at the first hurdle and the rest is an uphill struggle.
Have a session or two with me and see if we can bridge that gap.
