I am a professional. I will teach students how software is developed in the real world, instead of pure academic stuff. However, I will also teach them how to make use of the theory and apply it to practical programming, so as to enhance the quality and reliability of their software. I will start from the basics and expand quickly from there into real, brave stuff. Software is as much about the thought process as it is about implementation. As a professional, we have to think into the future quite a bit to build really robust and reliable systems. My students will get all of this from my experience.
