About Jessica
I am a native Brazilian and a professional English teacher who believes that at the heart of every lesson is a human connection.
I strongly believe in the pedagogy of listening. To me, teaching is not a one-way street. As your teacher, my goal is to understand not only your linguistic needs but also your preferences, your interests, and your feelings. I am here to listen to your goals and your challenges, ensuring that every lesson is tailored to who you are as an individual.
I am deeply inspired by the words of the great Brazilian educator Paulo Freire:
“Teaching is not transferring knowledge, but creating possibilities for the production of knowledge.”
In our classes, I want to create an environment where you feel empowered to 'produce' your own Portuguese. I want to build the tools and the confidence you need to express your own ideas, your own humour, and your own personality in my native language.
With my background in English pedagogy, I bring a structured, methodical approach, but it is always wrapped in the warmth, empathy, and safety that a student needs to truly flourish.

A Friendly, Anxiety-Free Environment
As an experienced English teacher, I know that the hardest part of learning a language isn't the grammar, it's the fear of making mistakes. My priority is to create a welcoming and judgement-free "safe space" where you can feel relaxed.
Since I also teach English professionally, I can explain the complex parts of Portuguese using logic you already know.
I follow a structured curriculum based on the CEFR levels (A1-C1). We will use high-quality materials, PDFs, and interactive exercises.
