I am a Data Scientist with 8 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, currently working as a Data Scientist for the BC Government. I hold graduate degrees in Machine Learning and Computer Science and have extensive experience in data analytics, business intelligence, and AI-driven insights. My academic background includes studies at the Montreal Institute for Learning Algorithms (MILA) and Concordia University, and I am certified in Microsoft Azure AI.

I have worked on data-driven projects across multiple industries, specializing in data mining, visualization, ETL processes, SQL database management, and advanced analytics. When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?
I first became interested in data and analytics during my studies, where I enjoyed applying problem-solving and logical thinking to real-world questions. Over time, I expanded into data science, machine learning, and visualization because I wanted to move from just analyzing information to building insights and solutions that make a difference. Working in government and research has strengthened this interest, as I’ve seen how data can be used to inform better decisions.
What makes you passionate about your subject?
I like the mix of creativity and logic in data science. Whether it’s building a machine learning model, analyzing statistics, or creating a clear dashboard in Power BI, I enjoy turning complex information into something that people can understand and use. It’s rewarding to see students not only learn the tools but also gain confidence in applying them to their own projects.
What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?
Tutoring gives me the chance to share both knowledge and practical experience. I make sure to explain concepts in plain language and break them down into steps, whether it’s coding in Python, understanding regression, or visualizing data. What makes me a “Superprof” is that I connect the theory to real examples from professional work, so students see how what they learn is applied in practice.

Yes, I had a professor who showed that teaching is about more than the subject. It’s about encouraging curiosity and building confidence. He made complex topics feel approachable and pushed students to think critically. That approach influenced the way I teach today.
What are your keys to success?
Preparation, persistence, and adaptability. I always prepare before teaching but adjust my approach depending on the student’s needs. I encourage persistence because learning data skills takes practice. And I stay adaptable by continuing to learn new tools and methods myself, so I can pass them on to my students.
