About Mark
- Mark has over a decade of experience, practising, studying mindfulness and other meditation forms since 2015.
- Accredited in January 2026 as a Certified Effortless Mindfulness Facilitator, having completed the Facilitator Track of the year-long, three-level, ‘Advanced Training Course’, from the Effortless Mindfulness Institute.
- He has completed the Mindfulness Association's 'Mindfulness-Based Living Course' (MBLC).
- He follows the British Association of Mindfulness Based Approaches' (BAMBA) good practice guidelines, including a dedication to daily mindfulness practice and attending regular retreats.
- Mark previously worked for the NHS and charities for 8 years in community mental health settings across south London.

In the busy world we live in, it is important we prioritise our own wellbeing. These sessions will help to calm your mind, heal your body and soothe your soul.
You will learn 'Effortless Mindfulness (EM), which allows you to access natural calm, clarity, and compassion at any time. By harnessing Effortless Mindfulness (EM), a modern approach, blending ancient wisdom (such as Indo-Tibetan traditions) with the latest developments in neuroscience and psychology you will be able to move to a deeper, already-present well-being.
He offers simple 'glimpse practices' to shift from a busy mind to a naturally awake, compassionate, and clear awareness already present within, enabling freedom from suffering and stress in daily life.
Offering a bespoke experience tailored to suit your learning style with a range of doorways available to help you 'unhook' from thoughts to access an innate, spacious consciousness.

I would like to praise Mark on the success of his newly founded Barnes Mindfulness Group and would highly recommend it to others considering the benefits of joining a professionally led in-person mindfulness group.
The thing that made it special for me was the inclusivity in the classes. Everyone was encouraged to share their experiences of the preceding short shared guided meditation. There was no pressure to do so, and Mark led the sessions in a very thoughtful and sensitive manner. I’m normally shy and an introvert by nature, but even I felt encouraged by the rest of the group to share my own experience, and I felt comfortable doing so.
It can be hard to quantify the benefits of mindfulness, but I found myself to be noticeably calmer for the following few days after the session and found myself less reactionary and calmer when I was facing situations I may have previously found triggering.
As always, it’s about putting this good work into effect in the heat of the moment, and as Mark reminded us all, we must show ourselves compassion, forgiveness, and most importantly, keep practicing. To that end, I can’t wait to reserve my place again in Mark’s Barnes Mindfulness Group in 2026.Hello fellow Meditation enthusiasts.
