About Eloïse

I’m a high school student currently attending boarding school in Massachusetts, but I call Paris, France home. Having lived in several countries around the world, I bring a truly global perspective to everything I do. As a native French speaker who has always been enrolled in advanced, native-level French classes, I have a strong foundation in the language, literature, and culture of the Francophone world. My background gives me a deep understanding of both formal and conversational French, as well as the cultural context that brings the language to life. Whether you're looking to improve your speaking skills, study for a class, or explore French culture more deeply, I’m excited to help you on your journey.

About the lesson

I begin each lesson by asking a few “Questions of the Day” to encourage my students to start speaking French immediately and to practice thinking and expressing themselves out loud. This warm-up helps build speaking confidence in a relaxed, supportive environment and allows students to talk about a variety of topics. My lessons are conducted entirely in French to maximize immersion and encourage active use of the language.

Before each session, I check in with my students to see if there is any particular material they would like to focus on, whether it is grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, writing, or cultural topics. If they do not have a specific request, I choose topics tailored to their level as French speakers and to what will be most beneficial in helping them become confident and engaged communicators.

My teaching method is rooted in blending global Francophone culture with the student's personal experience in order to make learning more meaningful. I often ask a few questions about their life and use authentic materials such as French news clips, podcasts, music, and videos to keep lessons engaging and relevant. My international background and native fluency allow me to provide not only strong language instruction but also valuable cultural insight.

Additionally, having successfully taken the AP French exam, I understand how to study strategically for standardized testing. I also have experience with CEFR testing methods, having passed the B2 German exam, which demonstrates my familiarity with structured language proficiency standards.

I tailor lessons to all levels, from beginners to advanced students, whether they are preparing for standardized exams, school coursework, or simply want to improve their French. My approach ensures that every student feels supported while steadily developing their skills in a dynamic and culturally rich learning environment.
