About Christopher

If your goal is to actually play songs — not get stuck running scales and random exercises — you’re in the right place!

I’m Chris, a professional musician based in Los Angeles. I’ve performed and recorded across rock, punk, metal, grunge, and alternative rock, and worked with artists like Ozzy, Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie. My work has also been featured on productions for Universal Studios, HBO, FOX, The Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy, and more. I’ve spent 20+ years as a working musician, but what I focus on now is helping students cut through the noise and make real progress on guitar.

Most players I meet are stuck. They’ve tried YouTube, memorized random riffs, or taken lessons that didn’t connect. My approach is simple: we focus on the small set of skills that actually show up in real songs, and build from there in a clear, repeatable way.

I work with both beginners and experienced players, and every lesson is built around your goals and the music you want to play. I offer a free 30-minute trial lesson where we’ll map out exactly what you need to improve and how to get there. If that sounds like what you’re looking for, let’s get your first lesson scheduled.

  • 1) When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?

I got into music the same way most people do, wanting to play songs I liked. What kept me in it wasn’t theory or exercises, it was realizing there’s a small set of skills behind most of the music I actually listened to. Once I saw that, everything started moving faster and making sense. Guitar stuck because it’s one of the fastest ways to go from zero to actually sounding like a musician.
  • 2) Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

Rock, alternative, and anything built around strong songwriting. I tend to focus less on genre and more on what the player is actually doing. A lot of styles look different on the surface but are built on the same core ideas, which is something I teach directly.
  • 3) Explain the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

The most valuable thing I can teach isn’t a “course,” it’s getting a student out of random learning and into a system that actually builds skill. Most players jump between riffs, scales, and YouTube videos and never connect it. The real shift happens when everything they learn starts reinforcing everything else. That’s where progress stops feeling random and starts feeling predictable.
  • 4) What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

They’re all complicated at a high level. The real challenge isn’t the instrument, it’s developing control and consistency over time. Most people don’t struggle because something is “hard,” they struggle because they’re learning things in the wrong order or without a clear system.
  • 5) What are your keys to success?

Focus on what actually shows up in real music, not what looks impressive on paper. Keep things simple, repeatable, and connected. Most importantly, remove randomness. Progress should feel like a result of following a process, not guessing what to learn next.
  • 6) Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Josh Homme, Jack White, and John Frusciante. All three have very distinct styles, but none of them rely on complexity for the sake of it. They focus on feel, tone, and choices. That’s a big part of how I approach teaching as well, getting players to sound like themselves instead of just recreating parts.
  • 7) Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

One of the biggest shifts I saw early on was realizing that players who improved quickly weren’t practicing more, they were practicing the right things in the right order. I’ve seen students make more progress in a few weeks by simplifying what they’re working on than they did in months of scattered practice.
  • 8) What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I don’t teach everything, I teach what actually matters. Lessons are built around a clear system so students know exactly what they’re working on and why. That makes learning faster, easier, and more consistent, especially for players who feel stuck or overwhelmed.
