My Teaching Approach and How I Share My Knowledge

As a graduate of Berklee College of Music, my teaching method combines structured musical education with real-world playing experience. I tailor every lesson to the student’s goals, whether that means preparing for auditions, learning to play favorite songs, mastering theory, or building strong improvisational skills.

Teaching Method and Techniques
I use a hybrid method that balances technical development with creativity. This includes:

Fundamental techniques (chords, scales, picking, fretting, fingerstyle, etc.)

Music theory and ear training to build strong internal musicianship

Improvisation and composition exercises to develop original voice and expression

Repertoire building based on the student’s musical interests (rock, jazz, blues, pop, funk, classical, etc.)

Modern tools like backing tracks, recording software, and digital tablature

I also focus on developing proper form and preventing injury, especially for younger or beginner students.

Typical Lesson Plan
Each lesson is customized, but a 60-minute session might look like this:

Warm-up (5–10 min) – Technique drills, finger exercises, scale practice

Skill focus (15–20 min) – Targeting specific techniques (e.g., alternate picking, bar chords, soloing)

Theory and ear training (10–15 min) – Understanding chord construction, intervals, and ear recognition

Repertoire or creative work (15–20 min) – Learning a song, improvising, or writing your own music

Wrap-up and goals (5 min) – Review and set practice goals for the week

Lessons can be adjusted for shorter or longer durations, and we’ll always pace things based on your progress and interests.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
Berklee training with a deep understanding of both contemporary and classical music styles

Versatility across genres – From jazz and funk to rock and pop

Patience and adaptability – I meet students where they are, regardless of level or age

Industry experience – I share real-world insights from performance, production, and recording

Focus on musicality, not just technique – Helping you sound and feel like a true musician

Who the Lessons Are For
I teach students of all levels—from absolute beginners to advanced players—across all age groups. Lessons are great for:

Middle/high school students preparing for music programs

College students and adult learners looking to deepen their skills

Aspiring professionals or gigging musicians

Hobbyists who want to learn their favorite songs or jam with confidence

Whether you're studying for a degree, picking up the guitar again after years, or just starting out, I’ll help you grow your skills with clarity and inspiration.
