About Lonnie

Hairdressing and barbering have been at the heart of my career for over 20 years. I’ve worked in busy salons, built my own freelance business, and spent many years teaching in colleges—helping learners of all ages take their skills to the next level. I hold NVQ Level 3, DTLLS, and Assessor qualifications, which means I not only know the craft well, but I also understand how to break down techniques in a way that’s clear, supportive, and easy to follow. What I love most about teaching is seeing learners grow in skill and confidence—whether that’s a student preparing for an NVQ assessment, someone strengthening their apprenticeship training, or an individual simply exploring hair as a creative hobby. My aim is to provide a professional yet approachable learning environment, where you feel encouraged, capable, and inspired to achieve your goals.

About the lesson

My teaching style is simple, fun, and fully personalised to suit each learner. I believe everyone learns best at their own pace, so I make sure lessons are engaging, encouraging, and adapted to your individual goals—whether that’s passing an assessment, boosting confidence in the salon, or just learning new skills for personal enjoyment. A typical session lasts 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the topic we’re covering. This gives us enough time to explore new techniques, practise them together, and answer any questions you may have. I’m a fully qualified tutor with: • NVQ Level 3 in Hairdressing & Barbering • DTLLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector) • Assessor’s qualification • 20+ years of industry experience working in salons, freelancing, and teaching in colleges. My lessons are open to all ages and abilities—from complete beginners to those already studying a course or apprenticeship who want extra support. You may be aiming to develop your professional skills, or perhaps you simply want to enhance your personal knowledge as a hobby. Whatever your goal, I’ll guide you every step of the way with patience and enthusiasm.
