About Irene

I have been giving private lesson for about 7 years now, one-to-one or small group lessons, and I also teach in pubblico Italian schools. Lessons can be face to face or online: there are no limits when it comes to learning and mastering a new language! I have also had experience with ADD/ADHD students. Almost all the results we have got together are brilliant, every student has had the opportunity to improve their language skills and learning an efficient personal methodology.

About the lesson

Italian is my mother tongue, I am from a small village near Rome and I graduated in "English and German Language and Literature" at University of RomaTre. I am currently a PhD student at Queen's University Belfast. I love languages and teaching, and I believe that learning a foreign language is an opportunity for everyone to expand their knowledge on diversity, culture, customs, but also feeling part of a larger network and be able to communicate with those around us. As for learning, I think that a targeted method, chosen depending on the level and the goals of the student, is the best way to learn and become fluent in a foreign language. My teaching methodology, which has been improved and modelled thanks to experience and feedback from students, is based on an essential approach to the Italian grammar and structure, to which - in every lesson is also accompanied by listening activities or writing, and conversation or games/crossword/creativity drills/tests... For this reason, approaches are manifold, taking advantage from a wide variety of material, sources and and tools, e.g. creative and technological ones. My main objective is to make my students feel constantly comfortable with the learning process, while enjoying every lesson.

Perfect! I am currently learning Italian with Irene. I find Irene a very friendly person with an attentive approach to teaching. The aforementioned is welcome as it provides for a comfortable environment with an enjoyable and relaxing feel. Irene's lessons are very well structured, logical, and progressive, which ensures you are always developing on a steady path. She is very open to questions and displays great patience as you work through each lesson! In addition, I have found Irene's lessons bespoke and specific to my level which is fantastic as this demonstrates her broad skillset and ability to cater to your personal needs. I highly recommend Irene!

Perfect! I have been working with Irene for several years now and I am very pleased with her as a teacher. In fact there are three in my family now taking lessons from Irene. My husband is Sicilian and wants to improve his Italian, my daughter speaks Italian but lives in Florida and works with Irene to make sure she doesn’t lose what she already knows, and I started out as a total beginner and now I feel that I am well into intermediate level and working on passing the B1 exam. What I love about Irene is that, unlike many Italian teachers she will explain things in English which is a much easier way for me to learn. I highly recommend Irene as a teacher.
