About Thaniya
Hi!
I’m an interdisciplinary artist, Bharatanatyam dancer, and Carnatic vocalist based in Auroville, India. Growing up between Bangalore, Auroville and Pondicherry, my cultural roots are strongly South Indian with a unique blend of international learning. I completed my Bachelor's in Design for Creative Education from Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology (Bangalore), a Bachelor's degree in Dance Research from Paris, and pursued Fine Arts and French at the Beaux Arts School in Nantes, France. I have worked on multiple projects in India and Europe. Today my creative life is grounded in daily core rituals of dance, yoga, writing and Carnatic music.
As a painter and performer, I often weave automatic writing into my visual art and bring my performances to live audiences wherever my travels take me. I love blending research with storytelling; a highlight of which was co-authoring and illustrating a book on edible weeds in the Tamil Nadu bioregion.
From leading media communications to exploring AI-driven art and teaching, I thrive at the intersection of music, movement, nature, and design.

My methodology is circlular in nature with warm ups, a 40 min intensive, and a closing circle of cool down, reflections, and gratitude. The wholesome training is based on Kolb's Learning cycle, every week progresses based on individual attention and needs. The classes are intended for all age groups.
