About Koen
I am an alumnus of the Conservatory of Music in Enschede and have been teaching piano lessons and music production for 5 years.
I have worked in Los Angeles for Cavalry Music, a trailer music publisher, working for trailers of various films, such as Avatar: The Way of Water, Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, 1917, and Rings of Power. In 2021, I was nominated for a Buma Award, an award for Dutch media composers.

Using the color blocks method, anyone can learn to play the piano! You don't need to learn notes or chords, you just follow patterns that I have recorded on video beforehand. Perfect for beginners
Furthermore, as a conservatory alumnus, I have a wide range of information, theory and practical skills with which we can get started. In doing so, the student's needs remain the focus.
What my students say:
Aniko: improvisation happens! :) Thanks for sharing a few songs, Koen. I watched Interstellar and just started improvising on it. And it was easy, I just went in and played. It is indeed a secret piano method and it works, I can build on it! Thank you!
Fedor: “My first melody on color blocks. Played for 6 hours so far. I try to play at least 20 minutes every day. It's nice that when I wake up it feels easier to play than yesterday. So it makes sense to practice more, and the brain is doing its job! I also found it very helpful to take a moment to reflect on some of the more difficult moments instead of skipping them and playing from the beginning. I will continue to learn melodies by ear to increase my understanding of how music works. Big thanks to @Koen Cramer for showing me color blocks. This makes it much easier to play simple melodies and makes the whole piece sound better.
