• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  When I was five years old, my father had shifted to the Spanish speaking country of Cuba for his job. In the three years in Cuba I had learned to speak Spanish from my maid and when I moved back to India, I had no one to speak it with, so I started to teach to my relatives. I had always enjoyed learning languages and teaching them. In addition to being a Spanish teacher, I also teach German and I don't think I will ever stop learning languages as it is my passion.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  Before teaching on Superprof, I had started teaching Spanish 4 years ago in my society. I had started by teaching school students and I enjoyed the process, so I decided to teach Spanish online. I enjoy working with students and guiding them towards learning a new language. Spanish is a part of my childhood and now I want to share it with others.

• How does your work help society?

  By teaching Spanish, I enable my students to communicate with Spanish-speaking individuals. This is especially valuable in a globalized world where interactions between different cultures are increasingly common. Speaking Spanish opens up many professional opportunities. My students can access jobs that require Spanish skills, ranging from international businesses to public services such as education, healthcare, and social work.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  My teacher Senor Marcos was a great role model to me. He went above and beyond then what was required to teach his students. Our lessons weren't confined just to classroom with him as he would often spend time work us outside the classroom getting to know us and teaching us Spanish which was pretty awesome. He was a great teacher and one of a kind.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  In my free time I enjoy painting and I've also taken classes for it. I als9 enjoy taking long trips on my bike across India.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  Over the years I've taught many students but one student that I remember fondly is Sarah, she had studied with me for 3 years as it was her school subject.
  It was always a fun experience teaching her because she was always hungry for knowledge and a hard worker. She was always on time for class and was diligent with her work to the extent I wouldn't expect from a young child.
