About Miriam

I grew up in Mexico City and have lived in Mississauga, Canada for 27 years, I genuinely know both worlds, both cultures, and both ways of thinking.

That unique background is what makes my lessons different. After nearly three decades watching English speakers learn Spanish, I understand exactly where you will struggle, where you will laugh, and where everything will suddenly click. I don't just translate words, I translate cultures.

Beyond language, I studied International Relations and worked in Foreign Affairs in Mexico City. Here in Canada I am a certified Life Coach and Brain Health Professional, which means I bring patience, encouragement, and a deep understanding of how people learn and grow into every single session. I know how frustrating it feels to be afraid of making mistakes, and I know how to help you move past that fear so you can actually enjoy the process.

About My Lessons

Learning Spanish should feel like a conversation with a friend, not a classroom lecture. My method is simple: we speak from day one, we laugh, we make mistakes, and we learn through real-life situations that you will actually use.

My methodology:
I teach conversational Spanish through cultural immersion and role play. Instead of memorizing grammar rules, you learn by doing. Every concept I introduce is immediately practiced in a realistic scenario because the goal is never to know Spanish, it's to speak Spanish.

A typical lesson looks like this:

Warm-up: casual conversation reviewing what we covered last time
New content: vocabulary and expressions introduced through stories and real examples, never drills
Role play scenario: we simulate a real situation together such as ordering at a Mexican restaurant, navigating an airport, meeting new people at a party, handling a professional meeting, or bargaining at a Latin market
Wrap-up: quick review, one fun homework challenge, and we choose next week's scenario together

Every lesson is different because every student is different. I adapt to your pace, your goals, and your personality.

My background as a certified Life Coach also means I know how to work with students who feel nervous, embarrassed, or convinced they are "too old" or "not good enough" to learn a new language. Spoiler: nobody is.
