About Peter Pedro
I am a native bilingual English-Spanish speaker, growing up in a hispanic-American home in a multicultural community. I am currently pursuing a bachelor's in foreign languages at San José State University. I hold a seal of bilateracy from the State of California in Spanish and French as well as an Associate's of Arts in Political Science and an Associate's of Science in Business from De Anza College. I have tutored in both these languages for over four years, and I have worked with children K-9th grade in City Parks and Recreation education programs for seven years.

As a passionate language learner myself, I have learned what works and what doesn't. Most important of all, as a teacher I recognize that every student will need particular strategies as they jump into a new language. When teaching languages, I bring the student into the culture and will teach by categorizing vocabulary and lessons into "cultural spheres," including history, gastronomy, sciences, and daily life.
In particular with Spanish, I emphasize the immense diversity and unique regional expressions of the language and I encourage students to experiment with each of them, as it will give the student the foundations to communicate easily with Spanish-speakers from all over the world, as opposed to being stuck with one regional accent as is common with Spanish-learners in traditional High-School Spanish.
