About Kimsath

I am a dual citizen of Finland and Cambodia, and my life path has taken me to many cultures and languages. This unique background has given me a deep understanding about the importance of not only understanding what you hear, but also being understood authentically and accurately.
From 2008 to 2020, I spent my summers in Finland and my winters in Thailand. After that since 2022, my life has been shaped by Finnish summers and Cambodian winters. Throughout these years, I've personally witnessed how important it is to master the language of the country you live in.
From my own experience as someone who calls two countries home, it is clear that knowing the local language makes life much easier. When you can communicate freely, you can express yourself exactly the way you want, and the risk of being misunderstood is significantly reduced. This improves both everyday life and deeper relationships.
Because I was born in a refugee camp in Thailand, I have acquired a diverse range of language skills from an early age. In addition to Finnish and Thai, I also speak Khmer and English fluently. This wide range of languages and years of experience living in different cultural environments have given me a unique ability to understand and teach languages in their real, living context.

About the lesson

Learn Thai in a relaxed and practical way!

Do you want to learn to speak Thai in an authentic and natural way, without the pressure of writing or reading? This course is designed just for you! We focus entirely on live communication and how the Thai language is actually used in everyday life and local encounters.

What happens on the course?

Let's make learning Thai as natural, smooth, relaxed, fun and easy as possible.
The main focus is speaking and discussion.

Free-form interaction:

We start with a casual chat and introduction to Thai. The most important thing is to be encouraged to use the language and understand its rhythm. You are allowed to be completely yourself and make mistakes – you learn from them!

Everyday vocabulary and situations:

Once you’ve covered the basics, we’ll expand your vocabulary to more practical topics. We’ll learn to talk about everyday situations, such as shopping, eating out, and family members. We’ll also focus on how to interact with officials in Thai – a skill that will be very useful in Thailand.

All means allowed:

We creatively use different ways to learn. For example, we can organize coffee or tea times together, during which we will have a genuine conversation in Thai, as if you were in Thailand. The idea is to create relaxed and realistic situations where using the language becomes an effortless part of the interaction.

No writing, no reading: The course focuses solely on spoken Thai. We don't spend time learning the characters or reading. The goal is to learn the language through listening, repeating, and conversation.

This course is perfect for you if you want to travel to Thailand and feel at home with the locals, understand them better and communicate naturally. Come along and start your journey with the Thai language – in a fun and effective way!
