About Sara

Hi! My name is Sara.

I have a Master's Degree in Japanology and I am currently studying Digital linguistics. I gained my knowledge not only through my studies, but also through student exchange in Japan, where I had the opportunity to further improve my language and get to know Japanese culture.

I have experience in individual teaching during and after my studies, and I especially enjoy working with beginners because I know how demanding the first steps in learning Japanese can be.
In my approach, I try to make learning simple, with lots of practical examples and adjusting the pace to each student. It is important to me to create a relaxed atmosphere in which the student can feel safe to ask questions freely, but also to make mistakes, in order to gradually gain confidence in using the language.

About the lesson

Japanese language classes are intended for complete beginners, regardless of age.

I structure and adapt the lessons to the pace and needs of each student, with the aim of building a solid foundation for further learning from the very beginning. The goal is to gradually develop writing, reading and pronunciation skills through practical examples and exercises that will build an understanding of vocabulary and grammar.
I pay special attention to clearly explaining grammatical structures and the way the Japanese language functions in relation to Croatian or English, so that the student understands the logic of the language instead of merely learning the rules by heart.
If we are starting from scratch, we will first become familiar with part of the Japanese script (hiragana, katakana) and the basics of pronunciation, after which we gradually introduce kanji characters, basic vocabulary and grammatical structures and apply them in simple sentences and everyday situations.

A typical lesson consists of a short review of previously covered material, the introduction of new content and practical exercises through which the student immediately applies what he has learned. The pace and content of the lesson can be changed depending on your needs and progress, and if necessary, we will also include content related to Japanese culture, everyday life and customs, because understanding the cultural context can be very useful for the correct understanding and use of the language.
We use presentations, textbooks and other teaching materials for learning, but we can also adapt the method of work and the materials to your needs and wishes.

I am open to different ways of organizing the lesson, and if you have special goals, needs or requirements, we can define them together and adjust the content and pace of work. During the first consultation lesson, we can discuss your goals and expectations, agree on a method of work and see which approach would suit you best.
