About Matthew
Matthew is an actor, producer and artistic director with over twenty years of experience in theatre, film, television and voice over.
He has acted in over 40 theatre productions including Hello Goodbye & Happy Birthday (Malthouse Theatre), Hamlet (Australian Shakespeare Company), Romeo & Juliet (Melbourne Shakespeare Company) & The Darkening Sky (Victorian Theatre Company).
His film and television credits include The Blake Mysteries, Neighbours, Ms Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries, Sherazade: The Untold Stories, The Boy Castaways, Ecco Homo & Enoch Arden.
As a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts (Bachelor of Dramatic Art 2012), Matthew has since cultivated a deep understanding of Shakespeare analysis and performance, teaching at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Melbourne Shakespeare Company and privately.
Since 2020, Matthew has been the Artistic Director of Victorian Theatre Company, programming seven productions to date.

Every client's needs are different, but a typical lesson will go for 40 minutes, and can either be online or in person.
If you are working on Shakespeare's text, we will break it down into clear images, identify how the verse works and how it can help shape your thoughts in performance.
Whether the script is contemporary or classical, my focus is on the actor's authentic connection to the words they are speaking. Together, we will break down the scene or monologue to identify the hidden rhythms, units of action and connection points that unlock your unique imagination and performance.
My lessons are ideal for:
- Actors preparing a monologue or scene for performance/ audition
- Actors looking to level up their understanding of Iambic Pentameter
- Students preparing for their Drama School auditions
- Students studying Shakespeare at high school
- Teachers looking to deepen their understanding of Shakespeare

Perfect! Matthew is an excellent teacher. I could not have asked for a better experience. After my lesson I have left feeling confident, inspired and more well equipped as an actor.
