About Cirus
Hi, I’m Cirus (she/her)! I graduated from Ohio University in 2023 with a BA in Spanish and certificates in Latin American Studies, European Studies, Law, Justice & Culture, and War & Peace. Additionally, I studied French, Italian, and Portuguese.
I am a strong proponent of the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis, which supposes that our language frames the way in which we understand the world. I myself discovered that I was trans through the gender conventions of Spanish.
My goal is to help you to develop and understand your relationship with Spanish and, in the process, build your competence and confidence in speech, listening, and composition.
To this end, I ask you to let me know how I can accommodate you on your language-learning adventure!

Learning a new language is a little like learning to dance; the key is to keep trying, even if you feel you’re not quite there.
Lesson plans are responsive to your needs and serve to build vocabulary, grammar, and muscle memory.
As you learn new ways to use Spanish, I provide a space where you can apply what you learn with the understanding that mistakes are normal, and that language mastery is more of an art than a science.
