About Shona
I have been classroom teaching for 21 years and a swim instructor since 2021. I continue to gain new knowledge and skills via industry training, as a teacher and swim instructor with the qualification (Unit code SISSS00112, updating the Gap training to SISSS00132) I have a current First Aid (HLTAID001) and CPR (HLTAID009). I hold a Certificate III in (Sport) Aquatics & Community Recreation (SIS31015 also completing Gap training to update to SIS30122) I will be qualified to teach adults on completion of my Certificate IV in Training & Assessment in June 2026.

I am available to tutor children and adults; currently completing my Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. I am employed by the Education Department and qualified to teach swimming and water safety lessons Stages 1-9 Fundamental Stage, Acquisition Stage and Application Stage. Focus is on correct breathing and kicking techniques for the swimming strokes and water safety skills including basic rescue and lifesaving.
I am qualified to teach subjects at school at the primary school level and am continually developing and updating the skills & knowledge to teach children, young adults and mature adults.
If you require assistance with learning & reading music I also have years of piano lesson experience.
So I can offer tutoring in all areas!

Shona was a good swimming coach. She taught me correct breathing technique, freestyle arms and flutter kicking, as well as breaststroke legs! She also helped me with survival skills preparing me for the water using the Aqua Code: including float and wave and the egg beater kick! I am now doing fitness laps at the pool! Thanks Shona :-)
