I have a proven method for giving the student a fast and effective framework in which to build their technique. Sight reading is encouraged but not essential, Jazz standards are the medium and will be tailored for the abilities of each student. My teaching method is very hands on and practical. I will teach you the theory, but also I’ll get you playing actual music as soon as possible. While theory and scale practise is important, I find the most motivating element is to start playing songs and tunes as soon as you can, I endeavour to help you with that.

While it certainly does not hurt to be able to read and write musical notation, it is not necessarily advantages to be able to do so when learning traditional styles.
