The keyboard contains 12 fundamental notes repeated in different octaves.

You'll find C, C♯, D, D♯, E, F, F♯, G, G♯, A, A♯, and B repeating throughout.

• Sharp and flat notes are two names for the same key. For example, C♯ is the same key as D♭.
• The visual pattern shows white keys for naturals and black keys for sharps or flats.
• On an 88-key piano, this 12-note pattern repeats over 7 times.

Understanding these 12 notes is essential for reading music and learning scales.

Private piano tuition in Sydney generally runs about $52/h.

The cost can vary depending on several factors:

• Your level of experience (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
• The teacher's experience and qualifications (degrees, certifications, performance history)
• The lesson length and regularity of lessons
• The delivery method (online, at home, or at the teacher's studio)

Some instructors offer discounted rates for multiple lessons, which makes learning more affordable.

The Pareto Principle suggests that concentrating on key tasks delivers the majority of improvement.

Applied to piano, it's about prioritizing challenging passages over easier ones.

• Practice hard sections until they match the easier parts.
• Focus on fundamentals like hand position, rhythm accuracy, and dynamics.
• Maintain old pieces with shorter, less frequent reviews.

This approach prevents wasted time on activities that don't move you forward.
