About Robi

I am an RCA and UCL art graduate, experienced professional artist and tutor with extensive knowledge of contemporary and traditional art practice. I provide focused 1:1 guidance, helping students develop technical skills, critical thinking, strong portfolios, and confident preparation for A-Level, IB and university entry.

About the lesson

My lessons provide focused in-depth of 1:1 support for A-Level and IB Art examinations, coursework and portfolio development, as well as students preparing portfolios for university entry.

I use a structured and strategic approach to help students identify the core areas that need the most attention, so that their study time is used effectively. Rather than spending unnecessary time on areas they have already mastered, we focus on the skills, development and assessment requirements that will make the greatest difference to their work and help them progress towards their individual goals.

For A-Level and IB Art, I can support students with project development, exam preparation, research, artist references, experimentation, critical analysis, sketchbook development and the progression from initial ideas to resolved outcomes. We can review existing work together, identify gaps and create a clear step-by-step plan based on the student's priorities and upcoming deadlines.

For portfolio preparation, I help students build a coherent body of work that demonstrates not only finished outcomes, but also their creative thinking and artistic process. This can include observation, research, drawing, composition, experimentation, material development, critical reflection, refinement and final presentation.

Where practical development is needed, lessons can also incorporate observational and pencil drawing, composition, watercolour, acrylic and oil-painting techniques, allowing students to strengthen specific technical areas while developing their portfolio.

My 1:1 approach is particularly useful for students who need intensive or time-conscious preparation. We establish clear priorities, focus on the most important areas first and regularly review progress towards the student's academic or portfolio goals.

The aim is not simply to complete a submission, but to help each student understand why their work develops in a particular direction, make stronger artistic decisions and become increasingly confident and independent in their own practice.
