About Nanako
Hello! My name is Nanako. Thank you for visiting my profile!
“I’d love to learn Japanese, but I don’t know where to start.”
“I’m traveling to Japan and want to speak more than just ‘Arigatou’ and ‘Sumimasen’!”
“I want to order sushi and a beer in Japanese!”
“I want to learn natural Japanese that native speakers actually use.”
“I want to enjoy anime and manga in Japanese!”
If any of these sound like you, come join Nanako’s Japanese lessons!
I’ll create lessons around your goals, whether you’re interested in travel, Japanese culture, hobbies, or studying in Japan.
〈About Me〉
I’m from Fukuoka, Japan, and I currently work as a tour guide at a Japanese language school.
I guide international students from around 20 countries across Europe, North America, Australia, the Middle East and Asia, introducing them to Japanese culture, sightseeing spots and everyday life in Japan.
I often guide cultural experiences such as Japanese taiko drumming, samurai sword demonstrations, kimono and calligraphy. I love sharing the beauty of Japanese culture with people from around the world.
I also practice Japanese tea ceremony, so I enjoy talking about Japanese traditions, hospitality, seasonal events and manners.
People often tell me that I’m easy to talk to and a good listener. I genuinely enjoy hearing about people’s lives, experiences and cultures, so I’d love to hear your story too!
● Languages
I’m currently studying English, and I studied French at university.
I know from my own experience that learning a language can be challenging, but also incredibly rewarding. Being able to have a conversation with someone in their language or make a new friend is such a wonderful feeling!
●Studying Abroad & Traveling
I have studied abroad in Belgium, Canada and the Philippines.
I have also traveled to more than 10 countries and have enjoyed discovering different cultures, meeting people from around the world and seeing beautiful places.
Where would you like to visit someday?
● Japanese Anime, Drama & Movies
I love Demon Slayer!
If you have a favorite anime, drama or movie, please tell me about it. I’d love to discover something new from you too!
●My Previous Career
Before becoming a tour guide, I worked for a cosmetics company.
I have experience in beauty, makeup, fashion and kimono, and I enjoy talking about Japanese and Asian beauty and fashion.
In my previous job, I always focused on listening carefully to each customer and understanding their individual needs.
I hope to bring the same approach to my Japanese lessons and create a comfortable learning experience for each student.
● Let’s Get to Know Each Other!
I’d love to hear about you too!
Have you recently started something new?
Is there something you’d like to try or a dream you’d like to achieve?
Tell me about yourself during our lessons.
I’m looking forward to meeting you!
See you in a trial lesson.

〈About My Lessons〉
I offer personalised Japanese lessons based on your goals, interests and level.
●Start Japanese from Zero
Never studied Japanese before? No problem!
We can start from the very beginning with:
* Hiragana & Katakana
* Pronunciation
* Greetings
* Self-introductions
* Basic Japanese
We’ll take it step by step and build your confidence as you learn.
●Japanese for Your Trip
Want to do more than just say “Arigatou” and “Sumimasen”?
Let’s practise useful Japanese for real travel situations, such as:
* Ordering food and drinks
* Shopping
* Asking for directions
* Having simple conversations with local people
We can use role-plays to help you feel more confident using Japanese in Japan.
As a tour guide, I can also share travel tips and recommendations for Tokyo, Fukuoka and Kyushu, including local food, sightseeing spots, souvenirs and travel plans.
●Japanese Culture
Learn Japanese while discovering the culture behind the language.
We can explore topics such as:
* Tea ceremony
* Kimono
* Japanese manners
* Seasonal events
* Omotenashi (Japanese hospitality)
Perfect for anyone who loves Japanese culture or is planning to travel or study in Japan.
●Speak Japanese with Confidence
Let’s practise natural Japanese in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
You’ll have plenty of opportunities to speak, ask questions and make mistakes without pressure.
After each lesson, I’ll provide personalised review notes to help you remember what you learned.
Homework is also available if you’d like extra practice between lessons.
●Your Goals, Your Lesson
I create personalised lessons based on your goals, interests and level.
Whether you want to start with Hiragana, use a textbook, or focus on conversation, we can adjust the lessons to suit you.
I can also support your future goals, such as travelling, studying, working or living in Japan.
We’ll start with the basics and build your Japanese step by step. If you’d like to take the JLPT in the future, I’ll be happy to support you too!
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
I have known her for about two years, and throughout that time, I have been consistently impressed by how hardworking and dedicated she is. She is genuinely one of the hardest-working people I know, especially when it comes to achieving her goals and improving her English. She puts in a lot of effort every day and is always looking for ways to learn and grow.
As a Japanese teacher, she is excellent at explaining things clearly and patiently. She always puts her students first and makes sure they understand the material, no matter how much explanation or support they need. Her friendly and gentle personality also makes her very easy to talk to, which I believe is one of her greatest strengths as a teacher.
She also has experience studying abroad, having spent in the Philippines studying English. Despite being immersed in an English-speaking environment, she adapted very easily and was able to communicate and learn effectively. Her willingness to challenge herself and seriously work on her English is something I really respect.
She is passionate about learning languages. English is something she takes particularly seriously, and she also studied French in college. Her interest in languages has given her a genuine appreciation for communicating with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
She also has a strong knowledge and appreciation of Japanese culture. I particularly admire her understanding of the gentleness and elegance that are part of Japanese culture, and she is even studying tea ceremony. Whenever I have a question about Japanese language or culture, she never hesitates to help me and explain things clearly.
Above all, what stands out to me is her combination of kindness, patience, and dedication. She genuinely cares about the people she teaches and wants them to succeed. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a friendly, patient, hardworking, and passionate Japanese teacher. I believe she would be a wonderful teacher and a great person to learn from.View more recommendations
