About Maria

With a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Language Studies, Linguistics and Psychology and over 20 years of customer service experience, I bring patience, professionalism and strong communication skills to every lesson.

I have worked as a Library Assistant since 2017, where I regularly assist people of all ages and backgrounds with reading, writing, research, technology, forms, online services and information literacy. I understand that learning can feel overwhelming, especially when returning to study, applying for jobs or building confidence with English and technology.

My goal is to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and progressing at their own pace. Whether you need help improving your reading and writing skills, preparing a resume, applying for jobs, developing study skills or becoming more confident with everyday technology, I will tailor lessons to your individual needs and goals.

I also have experience as a volunteer English teacher in Tanzania and continue to support my local community through volunteer work and mentoring. I believe learning should be practical, engaging and confidence-building, and I take pride in helping students achieve their goals.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is friendly, patient and practical. I believe people learn best when lessons are tailored to their individual goals, learning style and confidence level. I create a supportive, judgement-free environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.

My teaching focuses on clear explanations, real-life examples and hands-on practice. Depending on the student's needs, lessons may include reading and writing activities, English comprehension, resume and cover letter development, job application support, study skills or basic technology and computer assistance. I break tasks into manageable steps and provide encouragement and constructive feedback throughout the learning process.

Lessons are typically 40 minutes long, although shorter or longer sessions can be arranged. Online lessons are available and can be adapted to suit individual learning goals.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Language Studies, Linguistics and Psychology and am currently completing a Certificate III in Business. I have over 20 years of customer service experience and have worked as a Library Assistant l since 2017. My role regularly involves helping people with reading, writing, research, technology, forms, online services and information literacy. I have also volunteered as an English teacher in Tanzania and currently support community organisations through volunteer administration and mentoring.

My lessons are suitable for adults, mature-age learners, job seekers, people returning to study or work, and anyone wanting to improve their English, reading, writing, resume preparation, or confidence with technology.
