About Maya

As a licensed English teacher with a Master’s in Education and years of classroom experience, I bring both expertise and empathy to every tutoring session. I’ve taught in diverse, multilingual classrooms across Boston, working with English Language Learners, special education students, and general education students in grades 5–12. My teaching style is patient, structured, and personalized. I take time to understand each student’s needs, goals, and learning style, and I design lessons that build skills step by step—whether in reading comprehension, academic writing, grammar, or conversational English. I begin by getting to know each student’s goals, language background, and learning style to create a personalized plan. Teaching Methods & Techniques I use a blend of direct instruction, guided practice, and real-world application. Lessons often incorporate visual aids, discussion prompts, writing exercises, and interactive tools to build engagement and confidence. I support learners in developing not just accuracy, but also fluency and critical thinking.
