About Ava
Hey there! I'm Ava, and I'm here to help you succeed! I know that maths and chemistry can feel overwhelming—I’ve been there too. I used to struggle a lot with it and wasn't the best student. However, with a bit of a push I was able to achieve grades I never thought I could and enjoyed the subjects, and want to go into a career with it. But I also know that with the right support, patience, and approach, anyone can master them. That’s why I’m passionate about teaching. I want to show you that these subjects aren’t just about numbers and formulas—they’re about problem-solving, curiosity, and seeing the world in a new way. My goal is to make learning clear, enjoyable, and stress-free, so you can build confidence and truly understand the "why" behind every concept. No matter where you're starting from, I believe in you. I’ll be there to guide you, encourage you, and celebrate your progress. With the right mindset and effort, you can achieve more than you think—and I’d love to help you get there. My tutoring approach is student-centred, meaning I tailor each lesson to the student’s learning style, pace, and needs. Here’s how I structure my classes: 1. Understanding the Student Before diving into lessons, I assess the student’s strengths, weaknesses, and learning preferences. This helps me create a customised plan that suits them best. 2. Building Strong Foundations I focus on concept clarity rather than rote memorisation. For maths and chemistry, I ensure students understand why concepts work, not just how to apply them. 3. Interactive & Engaging Lessons I use real-life examples to make concepts relatable. For maths, I break problems into simple steps and encourage problem-solving techniques. In chemistry, I incorporate visual aids, experiments (when possible), and mnemonics to enhance understanding. 4. Active Learning & Practice I encourage students to explain concepts back to me to reinforce learning. Regular quizzes, past paper practice, and problem-solving help boost confidence. 5. Encouraging a Growth Mindset I emphasise progress over perfection, helping students develop confidence and a love for learning. Mistakes are seen as learning opportunities!
