About Lucy

- What kind of experience do you have? I have over 15 years' experience of private piano teaching, having taught levels from complete beginner to advanced and people of all ages from four years old to 70. I have prepared many people for exams and a few years ago achieved the second highest mark in the country for grade 2 piano. I also taught Alistair McGowan between 2014 and 2016! I am on staff at the Royal College of Music. - Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate? Yes - Where and with whom did you train? I studied at the Royal College of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music with Roger Vignoles and Dina Parakhina and have knowledge of Russian styles of teaching. - Do you belong to any professional organisations? Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM) - Tell me about some of your current students. I currently teach a whole family of students in London, all having one-hour lessons. It is particularly interesting, especially as the mother has learnt alongside her two sons and she is able to have a deeper understanding of how her children are learning and is therefore more easily able to help them overcome problems they might be having. It is also fascinating to see how the two boys compete with one another and how it is actually possible to use this to help them progress further.
