About Kumar

I am a professional Bansuri musician and educator with a Master’s degree in Music from IIT (BHU) Varanasi, one of India’s leading institutions for music education. I am trained in the Banaras tradition of Indian classical music and have been teaching Bansuri since 2017.

Over the years, I have taught students from different countries and backgrounds, from complete beginners to musicians who want to explore Indian music more deeply.

My teaching philosophy is simple: every student should learn at their own pace while developing a strong foundation. I combine traditional Indian music training with a practical and student-friendly approach, making the Bansuri accessible even if you have never played an Indian instrument before.

I can teach in English and adapt the lessons to your goals — whether you want to learn Indian classical music, devotional melodies, popular Indian tunes, improvisation, or simply enjoy playing the Bansuri as a new musical instrument.

About the lesson

I offer personalized online Bansuri (Indian bamboo flute) lessons for beginners, intermediate and advanced students worldwide.

I am a professional Bansuri musician with a Master’s degree in Music from IIT (BHU) Varanasi, trained in the Banaras tradition, and I have been teaching Indian flute online since 2017.

Whether you are completely new to the Bansuri, an Indian living abroad who wants to reconnect with Indian music, or an experienced musician looking to develop your technique, I will design the lessons according to your individual goals.

Lessons can include:

Bansuri basics, posture, breathing and sound production
Finger technique and fingering exercises
Indian scales, notes and ornamentation
Alankars and structured practice
Indian classical music and Raga
Bhajans, devotional melodies and popular Indian tunes
Improvisation and developing your own musical expression
Personalized Riyaz (practice) plans
Guidance for students who want to perform or create Indian flute music

My teaching approach is practical and step-by-step. I focus not only on teaching songs, but on helping students understand the instrument and become independent musicians.

All lessons are conducted online in English, and I welcome students from Malta and anywhere else in the world.

A trial lesson can be used to understand your current level, discuss your goals and create a learning plan specifically for you.
