About Vikas

Chess is more than just a game—it is a powerful tool to build focus, patience, and mental resilience in children.

I am an International FIDE-rated chess player (1708 ELO) and have been teaching chess professionally since 2018. Over the past 8 years, I have specialized in coaching children aged 5 to 15, helping them not only understand the complexities of chess but also develop the confidence to tackle difficult problems.

My primary goal as a coach is character building. Whether your child is an absolute beginner or an active tournament player, I provide a patient, structured, and highly encouraging environment where they learn how to think critically and bounce back from setbacks.

About the lesson

Every student learns differently, but my core methodology focuses on active engagement rather than just passive listening. A typical 1-hour session includes:

Tactical Training: We solve age-appropriate puzzles to sharpen pattern recognition, calculation, and problem-solving skills.

Deep Game Analysis: We review their recent games together. This teaches students how to objectively analyze their mistakes without getting discouraged, which is the key to building resilience.

Interactive Sparring: I play guided games with my students. This allows me to explain high-level concepts in real-time, test their understanding, and build their confidence against a FIDE-rated opponent.

Whether the goal is to compete in scholastic tournaments or simply improve focus and critical thinking for school, I tailor the curriculum to your child's pace.
