About Mike
Across twenty years of coaching I have trained 1045 students, many competing seriously at a genuinely national or international level for auditions, competitions, or professional placements. My own competitive performing background shapes every single part of how I teach today, since I know precisely and exactly what a real audition panel genuinely demands from a guitarist under pressure. I am intense, blunt, and unapologetically demanding throughout every lesson, because soft, gentle feedback has genuinely never once won a truly competitive audition for anyone I have personally coached. My guitar lessons are genuinely built on precision throughout, not simple comfort, since soft encouragement without real technical rigour reliably produces players who feel good but genuinely collapse under real performance pressure. Every single session opens with structured technical drills targeting picking accuracy, timing, and chord transitions precisely, measured carefully against clear, specific benchmarks tracked meticulously across each student's entire journey. I correct immediately and directly whenever a technique is genuinely sloppy, since delaying honest feedback lets bad habits calcify quickly into permanent limitations difficult to undo later. Repertoire is always assigned strategically based on what will genuinely stretch a student's weakest area.
