About Me-------------------------------------
Overview ->
I offer strategic Excel coaching that is a refinement of my, almost, decade in IT as a Data Analyst and Business Systems Analyst but also augmented by plenty of personal academic experiences. I have over 8 certifications in IT from C# and Web Design to Database Administration.
I am presently working on completing my MOS Excel certification and Azure DevOps Engineer which conveys my commitment to learning; it is this state of mind that helps me communicate technical and complex things clearly and simply.

Teaching Philosophy: --------------------------
My core conviction is that proficiency in Excel comes from plenty of hands-on opportunities with data sets. I prioritize practical application over theory, ensuring you build genuine skills that translate directly into your professional workflow but, just like in the real world, this means experiencing errors and planning troubleshooting methods.
Instructions are founded on the Do-See-Solve-Retain model.
Here's the breakdown: ------------
A. Practice First, Theory Second: We spend minimal time on abstract theory. Concepts are immediately applied to real-world business data sets and sheets I provide.
B. Troubleshooting-Driven Learning: My belief is that diagnosing and fixing errors is one of the most valuable skills in any data-heavy role so plans incorporate raw, and messy data sets to train your mind to not just be able to use the features.
C. The "Moderate Session" Technique: Lessons are structured into moderate-length sessions to optimize knowledge retention and prevent burnout. I encourage the opportunity for learners to have adequate time to process and solidify new information.
Lesson Plan Structure ------------
Step 1) Feature Introduction: Usually a concise description of the feature, technique, or formula (e.g., VLOOKUP, Pivot Table grouping, Conditional Formatting).
Step 2) Practical Demonstration
Step 3) Business Use Case: I like to discuss "Why this matters to the job", or "When you may experience this in the job (role dependent) to aid in understanding the purpose"
Step 4) Hands-On Learning: This is the bulk of my sessions. You'll have time to dive in and perform the task yourself using my prepared data, with live coaching and assistance. Review and Repeat! We quickly review the concept before moving to the next feature, technique, or module of increasing difficulty.
What Sets Me Apart -----------------
I teach Excel as a business system—not just spreadsheets because of my varied IT professional background. I leverage my Data Analysis, Engineering & Project Management expertise for real integration.
Who I Teach --------------------------
I’ve successfully coached students from beginner to advanced levels, but my lessons are most valuable for Business Professionals (e.g., Consultants, PMs, Analysts, Marketers) who need to transform Excel into a powerful engine for reporting and decision-making.

Before we Dive in.....
First, I think it's important to dispel the misconception of the difficulty in understanding Excel. It is a feature rich dynamic app that can overwhelm based on initial glance but, it is also incredibly easy to become comfortable with it when paired with a teacher that understands your habits, preferences, and learning style.
Albeit, instructors, such as myself, have their teaching patterns in order to aid our learners, it behooves us to make our style flexible to best align with learning.
My goal is to guide you on your journey to becoming a master of excel, and, if I do things properly, a teacher yourself someday.
Materials --------------------------------------------------------------
1. Resources:
It is strongly recommended you have access to Microsoft Excel 2021 or greater due to the deprecation of certain functions and integration of new features, which will make your workflow process easier and allow me to instruct you on the most up-to-date features and skills.
If you do NOT have MS Office 365 or Excel 2019 I do provide options for downloading (OS dependent).
Thusly, you will need to have Excel on your local device, have access to Microsoft 365 (online version), or be able to access Excel through an intermediary system such as Mac App Store.
I provide all course material and exercises in a Zipfile that you can download.
If you prefer I can support BYOF (bring your own files), however, this may not produce the best learning experience as materials I provide cover many use cases and scenarios that are helpful for understanding real world application.
2. Pedagogy ----------------------------------------------------------
I adhere to practice-based methodology complemented by interpretation of terms in your own words followed by grouped module exercises.
