About Svetla

I'm an experienced graphic designer and tutor working in the creative industry for over a decade now, and teaching for the last 6 years. I love helping creative minds of all age and level to develop their graphic design skills and Adobe applications competences with the pace they need.

My narrow area of expertise is design for print but design principles are universal and apply for any related field or subfield. I'm a Media Design master, where I specialised in book design. Probably because I started my high education with Philology years ago, which provided me with the love for books, as well as, with lots of knowledge about anthropology, mythology, philosophy, communication, aesthetics, story-telling and creative thinking. Later on, I become inspired by computers and digital visual communication and I got my professional qualification in Graphic design.

I’ve been lucky to travel a lot and live in different places throughout my life, which allowed me to work as a designer around the globe and as a professional has given me a wider perspective of the industry and an opened mind in general.

Throughout my career, I’ve been always teaching others, whether it had been interns when I worked as a chief designer in different companies or later – my own students in my graphic design school Svetla Graphics.

I'm very empathic and I like helping others get better in what they like doing by supporting them in gaining the confidence they need. Wether you want to study Graphic design as a profession or as a hobby, I’ll be happy to walk you through it. I'm deeply convinced that it is never too late or too early to learn something new, so no matter your age or starting competence, you can be a designer and you can enjoy it.

I believe in the lifelong learning concept, so myself I'm always looking for some extra course or lesson and for a continuous self-improvement.

About the lesson

I believe in learning through one's experience so my lessons are based on a lot of practice. But in order anything to be properly exercised it needs to be carefuly explained in the first place. So, my lessons include theory of graphic design in order to provide my students with the knowledge they need to practice with confidence. Graphic design is more about "why we do something?", rather than "how we do it?"
