About Tanner
The sound of a horsehair bow against a taut string first captured my attention decades ago. I hold a Master of Music in Vocal Studies from the Queensland Conservatorium.
Over 8 years, I have helped 30 students master the violin. I teach music theory, scales and arpeggios, posture and hold, and orchestral playing.
My focus remains on double stops, ear training, and tuning by ear. I take pride in building your intonation and grade exam prep for ABRSM and Trinity. Let us start this musical journey together.

Do you find that the violin becomes more rewarding when you understand the mechanics behind every note? My approach relies on a relaxed atmosphere that turns complex intonation drills into manageable goals. We work through challenging double stops by breaking them into smaller, reachable segments that keep your technique sharp. You will benefit from a system that balances rigorous scale work with the joy of playing a beautiful piece.
I aim to keep your posture natural while we refine your grip and bow distribution. Since I work with diverse learners, I adapt my pacing to ensure you feel supported throughout each stage of your development.
