About Lisa

I am a qualified and experienced mathematics educator and this allows me to combine my two Master's degrees and teach the subject I am most passionate about. I believe that every student can succeed in math with the right guidance, structure, and encouragement.

About the lesson

I use a combination of different teaching techniques. I first identify gaps in understanding through questions and short assessments. I will break complex topics into smaller, manageable steps to ensure a deep understanding. I work through examples with the students first, but gradually release the responsibility so that they can solve the problems independently. Mistakes are a learning opportunity and walking through them helps the students understand why a mistake occurred and how it can be avoided in the future. I use visual aids and real-world examples before moving into abstract mathematical reasoning (especially for primary and early secondary students).

Each lesson is 60 minutes long typically. This allows time for review, introduction of a concept, guided examples, and independent practice and feedback.

I hold a Master in Elementary Education and also a Master in Mathematics. I have several months of experience in teaching mathematics in a classroom setting at a primary level. Additionally, I tutored my peers while I was at Bridgewater State University in a one-on-one setting.

My lessons are for primary school students, high school students, and in some cases for college students.
