About Helen
I have taught Science to students in the Illawarra, Lower North Shore Sydney and A level Biology and Chemistry in England. I like teaching and relating to my students who enjoy learning to extend their knowledge. Tutoring individuals in their home environment, is a very successful method of teaching and checking individual understanding of each topic and problem solving ability. Being able to correct errors and misconception play an important part of tutoring and if done correctly students are brave enough to attempt answers, make mistakes and accept corrections. I prepare many questions that provide stimulus material for each individual. student. Reinforcing students understanding and knowledge gives them the confidence to ask more questions, find solutions and enjoy learning.

A student must be relaxed and confident to absorb knew information, and I encourage students to interact ask question plus seek answers. Curiosity is a must, essential to finding solutions particularly in Chemistry. I have taught on the lower North Shore for the past 15 yrs at HSC level with 80% of my students achieving Band 5+6. I am a trained teacher with a Masters of Education, B.A (Science) and a Graduate Diploma Environmental Science. I was awarded Regional Science Teacher of the Year 1988. besides teaching I have always tutored privately and this leads to recommendations to other students. Tutoring lasts an hour for HSC students, teaching for knowledge, understanding and problem solving.
