About Jose
I take education very seriously and love making an impact on students' lives. On a personal level, I deeply believe in kids and families facing systemic racism and who are underserved. This is why I decided to join Teach For America so that I could create meaningful change in the classroom. Now I am a Teach For America alumni, and I've served the Phoenix community for two years so far. I will be continuing my journey as an educator in the central Phoenix region. I graduated from UCLA and completed my master's program at Arizona State University. Equally important, I am able to work effectively in collaboration with others of diverse perspectives and backgrounds.

My teaching methods and techniques are a combination of Engage NY and Great Minds curriculum. Thus, I will deliver high quality individualized support to meet your needs. My lessons are for students who need that extra help in math in grades 3-8. The tutoring sessions will start with what you already know about a specific concept/problem in math and then we will fill the missing gaps. I have a wide range of strategies to solve math problems, so if a certain strategy doesn't work out, I will adjust the lesson plan so that you're comfortable and able to successfully solve the problem.
