I teach Pre-Algebra and/or Algebra, depending on the level of the student.
These are the topics covered:
Pre-Algebra:
-ratios, rates, percentages
-exponents, roots, scientific notation
-variables, expressions
-equations, inequalities
-exponents, roots, scientific notation
-two variable equations
-functions, systems of equations
Algebra:
-linear equations, graphs, systems of equations
-inequalities, functions, sequences
-absolute value, exponents, radicals
-exponential growth and decay
-quadratics, quadratic functions
A typical lesson will involve the following:
-Textbook lesson plan transferred to a slide show
-Practice problems
-Fun learning programs (Blooket or Kahoot)
-At the end of class I will usually assign homework problems: 5-10 questions.
-I will also dedicate time for schoolwork if necessary
The level taught will be determined one of three ways:
-It will match the current level of the student and will be focused on supporting their school curriculum
-A target goal will be specified to me(ex. algebra, quadratic formula)
-I will give the student an assessment in the first lesson and will base my other lessons on those results
