About Basma
I am a 23 year old woman and I recently obtained my Master’s degree. I’m quite outgoing and sociable, and I like learning new things, meeting new people and gaining new experiences in life. My hobbies include cooking, reading, solving sudokus and taking long walks around the city. You’ll always see me excited and with a smile on my face.
My academic journey was very tough and I had to figure so many things out by myself because sometimes, the methods my teachers used to deliver the material were mot in line with the way I needed to be taught to understand things properly land it made it very challenging. I did extra work after class all the time to make sure I wouldn't be late on the material because I didn’t understand it. Back then, I didn’t have the means to get a tutor when I had difficulties which was also a challenge. I want to tutor because I know how frustrating it can be to not understand something in class and have to figure it out by yourself. If I can facilitate someone’s learning experience and make them enjoy learning more, I would be more than happy to. I acknowledge that people learn differently and at different paces and I am ready to accommodate to anyone who is willing, and we shall work together to ensure that they understand everything.

I tutored some classmates while I was in high school, as well as during university. The method I took was based on an initial assessment of their knowledge and understanding of maths, and on the way in which they can understand it best. I tailored my teaching approach to fit a way of learning that maximizes their understanding of the material, focusing on strengthening key weaknesses using a practice-heavy approach, as I believe that using examples is the best way to grasp mathematical concepts. My approach is constructive and positive and I like maths very much, so it is important to me that my students understand it.
One statistic I can provide to back myself and my abilities would be that one peer I tutored during high school obtained a 100% grade on his final maths exam, so I can say that I know what I’m doing!
