About Tamara
I am a recent highschool graduate with 2 years experience in tutoring a range of students. I am able to tutor a variety of subjects to a variety of students.
I have also had a long history in childhood education, volunteering with a local church for 9 years. I spent three months as an exchange student in France, and am able to hold a conversation in French for over 4 hours. I achieved highly in my HSC and will be pursuing a degree in Modern History and Philosophy in 2020, with the intention of gaining a PhD in the future.
Primary age students - overall tutoring $25p/h: Spelling, Comprehension, Maths, basic study and learning skills
Year 7-10 - general tutoring $30p/h: Maths, English, History, French, and general editing of any other subjects.
Year 11-12 $40 p/h: English (all levels), French (continuers and beginners), Mathematics (2 unit), History (Modern and Extension)

I focus on the growth of relationship between student and tutor, and the growth of confidence of the student. I consider it important that each student feels safe, respected and supported. I usually address their specific needs as I get to know their strengths and weaknesses, and I tailor my teaching to each individual student. I use visual or eloquent and varied explanation depending on the student.
The structure of each lesson also depends on the student. After the initial introductory lessons, I construct a long term plan to address each syllabus dot point for the subject and student. I then use their strengths to highlight similarities between areas they find difficult and areas they are highly capable in. For example, if a student is good at recognising patterns, I will incorporate patterns into spelling and grammar using shapes to represent different features. I construct a long list of activities to suit each student and each syllabus.
