My method is simple: aim for the student to understand the topic rather than just remembering facts. This allows them to apply this understanding to multiple questions and topics and achieve the highest grade. Repetition helps ingrain facts into memory but understanding comes from abstract thinking which takes multiple (often visual) approaches.
