About Howard
I have a background in electronics engineering and quantitative finance, together with UK secondary school teaching experience. I enjoy mathematics not only as a subject, but also as a way of thinking and solving problems.
What I particularly enjoy about teaching is helping students make sense of ideas that may initially seem difficult or confusing. I aim to explain mathematics clearly, build understanding step by step, and then help students become more fluent, confident and independent in solving problems.

I offer structured and focused Maths lessons for GCSE and A Level students. I first identify the areas a student finds difficult, then explain the underlying ideas clearly before working through examples and exam-style questions together.
My teaching approach combines clear explanation, guided practice and independent problem-solving, with regular checks to make sure the student has genuinely understood each step rather than simply memorised a method.
I have UK secondary school teaching experience and am familiar with teaching Maths across different levels of ability. Lessons are usually 60 minutes and can be adapted to support students who want to strengthen their foundations, improve exam technique or work towards higher grades.
