About Emils
As an undergraduate maths student at the University of Cambridge, and having attended Kings College London Maths School, I have built a massive passion and excitement for mathematics over the years. I am a very keen learner, and hence in my spare time, I enjoy trying Olympiad maths problems, coding problems, and other similar challenges involving problem-solving in a mathematical setting. These problems teach me which parts of the maths one could get confused or stuck on, and hence how to intuitively overcome these obstacles, thus allowing me to explain any sources of confusion a student may have in a simple-to-understand way.
Another big hobby of mine is basketball - I play for the Cambridge University basketball team, competing all around the country on a weekly basis. This has been invaluable in teaching me how to communicate effectively as decisions have to be made as a team in split seconds, which is an imperative skill as a tutor.

Lessons consist of:
• Looking at a few example questions to gauge the level of understanding the student has of the topic.
• Going through the content of the topic, going through any derivations and key ideas, so that the student develops an intuition for the topic, instead of just memorisation.
• Trying a few practice questions, with my guidance if the student gets stuck, where I give the student prompts so the student can come up with a line of reasoning for themselves so that it is repeatable.
• Finishing off with a timed exam question to prepare for the real thing.
Typical length of a lesson would be an hour to an hour and a half, depending on how difficult the student finds it to grasp the topic.
Experience:
• Tutored a couple of primary school children on a weekly basis covering a range of topics at the key stage 2 level, mostly improving and furthering their knowledge of what they were being currently taught in school.
• Briefly tutored a few friends of mine at GCSE level.
• Conducted a mock interview for a friend who was applying to study maths at Cambridge.
Target audience of Lessons:
• Anywhere from A-Level further maths down to primary school level.
