About Raissa

¡Hola! My name is Raissa and I am a Spanish tutor with a degree in Spanish. I fell in-love with the language while studying and gained hands-on experience living in Spain. I've spent 5 years tutoring students of all ages and levels, and I've also done language exchange in South America, so I can help you navigate different accents and regional expressions with confidence.

I know that starting to learn a new language — or getting unstuck at an intermediate level — can feel daunting. My goal is to make every lesson a space where you feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and actually using the language, rather than just memorizing rules. I bring structure where you need it and flexibility where you don't, adapting each lesson to your pace, goals, and learning style.

Whether you're preparing for exams, building confidence for travel or work, or picking up a language you studied years ago, I'll meet you where you are and help you make real, steady progress. I'm patient, reliable, and genuinely invested in seeing my students succeed!

About the lesson

Teaching Methodology

My approach blends structure with flexibility — I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all method. Lessons combine grammar and vocabulary building with plenty of real conversation practice, since that's where language actually sticks. Depending on what you need, we might work through structured exercises to nail down tricky grammar points, practice JC/LC exam papers, dive into hands-on projects (like planning a trip in Spanish or analyzing song lyrics), or simply have a natural conversation that gently corrects and expands your Spanish as we go. I tailor the mix to each student's goals, learning style, and current level.

Lesson Length

Lessons typically run 60 minutes, which gives enough time to review previous material, tackle new content, and finish with open conversation — long enough to make real progress, short enough to stay focused. I'm happy to adjust to 45 or 90 minutes depending on your preference or age group.

My Background

I hold a degree in Spanish and spent time studying abroad in Spain, which grounded my fluency in real, everyday usage rather than just textbook Spanish. I've since spent time doing language exchange in South America, giving me exposure to a range of regional accents and expressions I bring into lessons. I've been tutoring for 5 years, working with a wide variety of learners and building a teaching style that's patient, encouraging, and genuinely effective.
