About Dominique
I am a French-English bilingual NGO worker based in London.
Born in London, I moved to Lyon, France in 2004 at age five and lived there for thirteen years. Completely immersed in the French schooling system, I passed my Literary Baccalaureate (A-level equivalent) with honorary mentions in 2016, before moving back to the UK for university. Alongside my undergraduate Film studies, I taught and tutored both French and English to students in my community, from primary school levels to GCSE and A levels, with skills in child-care and teaching from previous ice-skating and dance coaching. I also have three years of professional French-English and English-French translation experience.
I am a keen traveller, open-minded and interested in cultures different to my own. I've found deep value in learning Spanish and German, and have made international friends thanks to my language skills. I hope to help others learn French so they can do the same.
I believe languages should be taught with an interactive and engaging approach, to promote their practical use. My main objective is to foster a motivating and encouraging environment in which students will build their confidence to speak and communicate, completely immersed in the language through task-based activities and exercises.

My GCSE and A-level lessons (typically 1 hour) are interactive and conversational, aiming to build confidence in speaking French as a primary goal, with task-based activities on grammar, conjugation and vocabulary along the way. As a native French speaker, I can help with pronunciation and listening skills.
A written task will be set between each lesson to go through during the session.
I am happy to adapt my lessons to the student's needs and help with classroom homework or exam preparation.
