About Siobhan

My name is Siobhan, and I'm a final year Medical Biosciences student at Imperial. My passion for my degree subject stems from my ever-present fascination by the science behind the human body and just how intricate and complex we are. My Higher Human Biology class really helped solidify my decision to enter this field, and I hope to become a researcher one day, uncovering even more about how humans work. I hope to encourage pupils to learn to enjoy their course content and the learning process by delivering fun and engaging activities. I also aim to be super attentive and adaptive to their needs, ensuring they get the most out of tutoring. Tests and SQA assessments can be tricky and intimidating, but after acing them myself, I look forward to teaching pupils that they aren't actually as scary as they seem! Once you take the time to go over the content at your own pace, break everything down and fully understand what the examiner is looking for, it becomes so much easier. I aim to help pupils understand this and support them as they work towards their desired grades. Beyond academics, I've taken up ice skating a couple years ago as an extracurricular activity. Starting off as a beginner who was afraid to leave the rails, I slowly built up confidence to try more advanced skills. Getting from there to my current level required perseverance and discipline -- I plan to inspire students to have a similar can-do attitude and continue to show up, so they can eventually achieve their goals.

About the lesson

In secondary school, I sat Biology, Chemistry and French up to Advanced Highers, and I additionally sat Maths and Spanish up to Highers, achieving an A in every exam. As a beginner tutor keen to gain experience, I plan on delivering engaging 1-hour lessons for S1-S6 pupils that consist of active revision, explaining concepts that pupils particularly struggle with, and working through practice questions.
