About Julia
Hi, I'm Julia! I'm a qualified doctor and experienced private tutor with over five years of teaching experience. I graduated from Kent and Medway Medical School with four academic distinctions and went on to work as a doctor in the NHS.
Having gone through the demanding journey of applying to medical school, completing my medical degree and working as a doctor, I understand first-hand what it takes to succeed academically and pursue a career in medicine.
One of my greatest passions is education and helping students achieve their full potential. Since 2020, I've supported over 50 students, helping them build confidence, strengthen their academic understanding and work towards their individual goals. I firmly believe that every student is capable of achieving excellent results with the right guidance, encouragement and teaching approach.
I'm particularly passionate about supporting aspiring medical students through **every stage of the medical school application process**, from choosing universities and preparing for the UCAT to developing strong personal statements or application responses, preparing for MMIs and panel interviews, and understanding what life as a medical student and doctor is really like.
Alongside medical school admissions, I tutor GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry, combining my scientific background with practical exam techniques and personalised teaching.
My goal is not simply to help students pass their exams or secure a university offer, but to help them develop the confidence, knowledge and skills to achieve the very best they can. I take genuine pride in seeing my students progress, overcome challenges and achieve goals they once thought were out of reach.

My teaching approach
I believe effective tutoring should be personalised, engaging and focused on achieving measurable progress. Every student learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to their individual strengths, areas for improvement and learning style.
I begin by identifying any gaps in understanding and establishing clear academic goals. My lessons combine clear, step-by-step explanations of challenging concepts with active recall, exam-style questions and past-paper practice. I place particular emphasis on exam technique, helping students understand not only the correct answers but also how to structure their responses to maximise marks.
I encourage students to ask questions freely and create a supportive environment where they feel comfortable making mistakes and developing confidence.
Lesson structure and duration
Lessons typically last 60 minutes, although I can offer longer sessions depending on the student's needs. Each lesson is structured around specific learning objectives, with opportunities to consolidate previous topics, introduce new material and practise applying knowledge.
Qualifications and experience
Alongside my medical degree and NHS clinical experience, I have been tutoring since 2020, working with over 50 students across different academic levels. My scientific and medical background allows me to explain complex biological and chemical concepts clearly, while my tutoring experience helps me tailor explanations to each student's ability.
