About Mariam
I am currently a second year medical student and an IBDP graduate. I received a 7 (equivalent to an A*) in IB HL Biology, HL Chemistry, and Environmental Systems and Societies. As a medical student, my knowledge of biology is extensive, but I am also aware of the level of content GCSE / A level / IB students need to succeed. I am accustomed to mark scheme style exams, and know how to approach exam preparation for biology efficiently and successfully. I have two years of experience teaching biology, chemistry, and ecology to younger students, and I have developed excellent communication skills, and I know how to deliver content in a detailed but concise manner, personalised to what you need to learn.

I approach lessons with the mindset of meeting you where you are, and then going forward from there. Lessons are typically an hour, and I will first have you outline your goals for the lesson, or the key topics that you would like to cover. I explain each topic thoroughly, allowing for questions and repeating as many times as needed so that you can learn at your own pace. Then, I will have you explain it to me, and correct your understanding accordingly. If you have any worksheets or practice questions, I will guide you through each question, allowing you to take the lead, but answering any questions you have or correcting you as necessary. This methodology is backed by science - it allows you to receive the support needed in areas of weakness, while your mind grows accustomed to approaching the content independently - which is ideal for exam preparation. The lessons are intended for GCSE, A level, or IBDP biology students.
